Auburn Recruiting Taking Shape

As we draw down to signing day, Auburn recruiting is starting to heat up.  This week, Auburn has jumped from 30th to 19th on Rivals due to 5 committments.  With another all-star cast visiting the Plains this weekend, it should make for an exciting close.

Auburn Fans Listen Up

The one thing that Auburn fans need to realize is that we do not need to rush the coaching decision.  Many of the posts I have read from Auburn fans seem to be pushing Turner Gill.  IMO this guy should not even be on the Auburn radar.  We need a proven coach that can take us to the next level.  Go after the big name coaches and offer them the big bucks.

Recruiting will not be hurt if we wait after bowl season as long as we hire the big name guy.  Could you imagine how good our recruiting would be if we hired Chris Peterson at Boise or Urban Meyer at Florida.  I am not saying we would get either one of the guys, but if we could, recruits would be begging us to take them.  Who knows, if you offer one of these guys $4.5M a year, one of them might come.

Burns May Be Our Best Bet

Burns is our only hope at this point in the season if we expect to be successful with the spread.  His running ability will throw defenses off and open the passing game up more.  We have a very good group of receivers and we are under utilizing them.

In addition, our offensive line has got to quit making mistakes (penalties) and get better on their blocking assignments.
